Faè (Savno) and Campagna (Basin Authority): "A program full of initiatives that inspire and motivate children to become true protagonists of change"
September 19, 2024
Faè (Savno). Savno's program of environmental education activities for the 2024/2025 school year is back with many new features. In collaboration with Cit and the Sinistra Piave Basin Authority, there will be numerous workshops, lessons, competitions and conferences aimed at schools of all levels in the area, with the aim of raising awareness among young people on important issues such as waste management and environmental sustainability.
New this year is "Discovering hydroponic cultivation", an experimental project aimed at primary and lower secondary schools. Students will have the opportunity to receive a hydroponic growing kit and attend explanations from an expert agronomist. This unique activity will allow children to learn about innovative and sustainable agricultural techniques.
Also on the calendar for the first time is "Earth Days, Art Days", an educational program in collaboration with the Fondazione Oderzo Cultura that will allow primary and secondary school students to visit the Museo del vetro d’artista in Oderzo, learning about the processes behind glass production and good practices for the correct collection of this material.
Among the new workshops, on the other hand, "The Insect Goose Game", aimed at five-year-old children in nursery schools and created with the precious collaboration of the Fondazione Zavrel, will allow young participants to discover the wonderful world of insects through readings and recreational activities, learning about the importance of these small living creatures for the ecosystem.
Savno has also stepped up its collaboration with Humana. The educational program consists of three lessons and is aimed at elementary and middle school students: "Small sorting" explores the reuse of used clothes; "Reading labels" encourages students to rethink objects and everyday actions in a creative and sustainable way; "Creative upcycling from T-shirt to shopper" teaches students the value of reusing used clothes, highlighting the importance of the circular economy.
In collaboration with Debora Basei's RicreartiLab, starting this year, schools that request it will also be able to try their hand at an educational program that includes a visit to the Ricrearti laboratory. Primary and secondary school students will have the opportunity to learn about the Reuse Bulletin Board, discovering how waste materials can be transformed into artistic objects.
In addition to these initiatives, the wide range of educational activities that over the years has distinguished Savno's commitment to the environmental education of new generations has been confirmed. For nursery schools, the "Trees: living beings, friends and allies" workshop is back, a short meeting on the importance of trees. Among the lessons for primary schools, the popular "Grandpa Pietro's Farm" has been confirmed, an hour dedicated to discovering nature and sustainability. Also, for lower secondary schools, the visit to the Bee Museum in Oderzo remains on the calendar, which includes an in-depth look at the life of bees with sensory workshops.
Finally, for upper secondary schools and the University of the Third Age, there is the opportunity to participate in the conference "Biodiversity and Climate Change", which will feature expert speakers in the field: Valeria Barbi, journalist and expert on biodiversity and climate change, lecturer at various institutions and creator of the WANE project, and Giulio Betti, meteorologist and climatologist at the LaMMA Consortium and the CNR in Florence, supporting the Tuscan Civil Protection Agency.
All activities are free of charge and registration must be completed online by October 12, 2024. "Our goal is to cultivate in young people a deep environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility towards the planet we live on. We believe that education is the key to a better and more sustainable future - comment Savno President Stefano Faè and Sinistra Piave Basin Authority President Roberto Campagna - This is why, this year too, we wanted a program full of initiatives that not only inform, but inspire and motivate children to become true protagonists of change. We are very satisfied with the response received so far: in the first 24 hours since the launch of the projects, 60 classes have registered and in 48 hours we have reached over 100 classes registered. Participants in last year's activities gave the activities a rating of 4.25 out of 5, a sign of how much they were appreciated. We wish all students a school year full of discoveries and growth."
To participate in the projects, please fill out the appropriate online form in the section of interest (kindergarten, primary, lower secondary, upper secondary, university of the third age) at https://www.savnoservizi.it/it/scuola by October 12, 2024. Applications submitted after this date will be scheduled subject to availability of dates and places.
